On July 27, 2020, the Tsinghua Campus, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Northeastern Finals of the Fifth Tsinghua Alumni Sanchuang Contest and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Symposium for Digital Economy Industry of Huanggu District of Shenyang were held in Shenyang TI Workshop.

Tsinghua Alumni Sanchuang Contest is hosted by Tsinghua Alumni Association, covering a series of large-scale activities for supporting alumni and students to get involved in innovation and entrepreneurship, and is designed as a stage for innovative and entrepreneurial alumni and students for demonstration, exchanges, financing and growth, and also a participation and communication platform for alumni who are willing to mentor, support and invest in innovation and entrepreneurship programs.

Under the guidance of Department of Science & Technology of Liaoning Province, Shenyang Bureau of Science and Technology and Tsinghua Alumni Association, the event was hosted by People’s Government of Huanggu District, CCYL Committee of Tsinghua University, Tsinghua Alumni Association in Shenyang, AI and Big Data Specialized Committee of Tsinghua Alumni Association, New Media and Internet Specialized Committee of Tsinghua Alumni Association and Beijing IE Street Holdings Co., Ltd.; undertaken by Office of Science and Technology of Huanggu District, Shenyang TI Workshop, Tsinghua Data D-LAB, Tsinghua Chuang Plus Innovation and Entrepreneurship Service Platform for College Students; and co-organized by Shenyang Information Center, Shenyang Sci-Tech Innovation Center, and Integrated Innovation Center of Huanggu District of Shenyang.

Other attendees included main leaders of relevant functional departments of Huangu District, representatives of renowned domestic sci-tech innovation carrier, main leaders of universities, scientific research institutes and large state-owned enterprises in Shenyang, directors of innovation and entrepreneurship carrier in the Workshop, enterprise representatives attending event roadshows, and press representatives who have given energetic support for the event.

Competition was the first part of the event. For the “Tsinghua Alumni Sanchuang Contest”, over 500 entrepreneurship mentors and judges were invited, and close contact and cooperation were made with over 150 investment institutions, hundreds of angel investors and over 60 local government investment and talent attracting agencies; more than 900 project entries globally were divided into seeded group, angel group and growth group, covering fields such as Internet+, big data, AI, big architecture, urban renewal, cultural originality and sports, health care, advanced manufacturing, integrated circuit, new materials, environmental protection, etc. 43 entries were selected in the finals; in the “online and offline” model, the project quality and quantity in the event towered over those in the previous ones, and leaders at provincial, municipal and district levels and representatives from Tsinghua Alumni Association and enterprises with a total number of 70 persons, and 20 judges were invited. After one-day fierce competition, 19 teams were selected for the World Championship.

The second part of the event included project award presentation and opening ceremonies, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Symposium for Digital Economy Industry of Huanggu District of Shenyang, and important distinguished guests and leaders made speeches. Li Songlin, member of Municipal Standing Committee of Shenyang Committee of the Communist Party of China and Deputy Mayor of Shenyang, was the first to make a speech, stating, Shenyang Committee of the Communist Party of China and Shenyang Municipal People's Government always value the construction of the innovation and entrepreneurship system, and the winners in the contest are seeds which will thrive in the future; we, Shenyang people, warmly welcome a wealth of innovation and entrepreneurship teams to gather here and create a great cause with concerted effort and yield unusually brilliant results after the market test.

Shi Zongkai, Deputy Director of School Administration Committee and Vice President of Tsinghua Alumni Association, in his speech, expressed his heartfelt thanks to Shenyang Committee of the Communist Party of China and Shenyang Municipal People's Government for years’ support to Tsinghua Alumni Association; Mr. Shi added, Shenyang, as a heroic city with the full capacity and attraction to collect more outstanding students to start business, expects that Tsinghua Alumni Association would establish closer connection with Shenyang Municipal People's Government, allowing more entrepreneurship teams to serve the local economic development.

Cheng Fang, President of THTI Holdings Co., Ltd. and founder of Beijing IE Street Holding Co., Ltd., said that Huanggu District had kept good cooperation with THTI and Beijing IE Street Holdings Co., Ltd. with over 37,000 m² jointly-operated specialized sci-tech innovation carrier area, and would vigorously support award-winning contest teams to adapt to local policies and get down to implementation in Shenyang, and provide them with all-rounded resource liaison platform service.

In the following two steps of the opening ceremonies, Li Sheng, Head of the People’s Government of Huanggu District of Shenyang, and Miao Yingwei, Chairman of Beijing IE Street Holding Co., Ltd., unveiled “Yangtze River Delta Delocalization Innovation Center of Huanggu District of Shenyang”, a delocalized innovation center founded by Shenyang TI Workshop and Shanghai Jiading IE Street and People’s Government of Huanggu District; Yangtze River Delta Delocalization Innovation Center of Huanggu District of Shenyang, as a regional opening-up “watch house” within the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta, will definitely inject new energy into innovation development for Huanggu District and Shenyang.

Then, Shi Zongkai, Deputy Director of School Administration Committee and Vice President of Tsinghua Alumni Association, and Yu Baohai, Co-chairman of Tsinghua Alumni Association in Shenyang unveiled “Tsinghua Alumni Sanchuang Industry Incubation Base”. They expressed that the base will be built into the second home for Tsinghua Alumi in Shenyang; and students and teams are welcome to be settled in Shenyang with creativity, projects and infinite expectation for the future.

Projects can’t be developed smoothly without the support of entrepreneurship mentors and experts. Soon afterwards, witnessed by guests and leaders, Du Binghai, Deputy Head of Department of Science & Technology of Liaoning Province, and Qi Xingda, Deputy Secretary of CCYL Committee of Tsinghua University, offered mentors with Sanchuang Contest Mentor Certificate and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Mentor Certificate of Huanggu District. The awardee representatives included Han Yishun, Executive President of AI and Big Data Specialized Committee of Tsinghua Alumni Association; Guo Xiao, Senior Consultant and Deputy Director of Emerging Industrial Centers of China Investment Association; Deng Yongqiang, Executive Secretary-General of Tsinghua Alumni Sanchuang Contest; Wang Zidong, Vice President of Neusoft Holdings and General Manager of Liaoning Neusoft Entrepreneurship Investment Co., Ltd.; Pan Hong, Executive Dean of School of Economics of Liaoning University; Wang Jun, Dean of College of Computer Science and Technology of Shenyang University of Chemical Technology and doctoral supervisor of Chinese Academy of Sciences; and Cui Jianfeng, General Manager of Shenyang Entrepreneurship Street Incubator Management Co., Ltd.

In the award presentation, Zhao Rigang, Director of Shenyang Bureau of Science and Technology, and Tang Wei, Head of Talent Division of Organization Department of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee presented awards to the 19 qualified teams that were selected for the World Championship to compete with their rivals from other cities. Meanwhile, the awarded projects in the contest will be preferentially listed as key introduced and developed projects and be connected with industry development resources and demands of Huanggu District across the board by project field to further boost the quality improvement and upgrading of sci-tech innovation industry of Huanggu District; it is imperative to seize the opportunity to develop strategic emerging industries, such as digital economy, Internet+, new materials, environmental protection, etc., and spare no effort to strengthen new growth points, and shape new development energy.

Finally, Liu Shiqi, General Manager of Shenyang TI Workshop presided over the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Symposium, during which Han Yishun, Executive President of AI abd Big Data Specialized Committee of Tsinghua Alumni Association, and Wang Huanran, General Manager of Shenzhen Zhonglian Digital Technology Co., Ltd. and Beijing Guoqiangongying Fund, delivered excellent speeches.

Under the leadership of the guest host Pan Hong, Executive Dean of School of Economics of Liaoning University, Yan Qiang, Researcher of Institute of Data Science of Tsinghua University and Deputy Secretary-General of Big Data Industry Alliance, Deng Yongqiang, Executive Secretary-General of Tsinghua Alumni Sanchuang Contest, Liu Daoquan, Deputy Secretary-General of AI and Big Data Specialized Committee of Tsinghua Alumni Association, Meng Jimin, Distinguished Research Fellow of China Academy of Northeast Revitalization and Director of Intelligent Industry Research Center, and Wang Jing, General Manager of Beijing IE Street Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd., took part in heated discussions.

Leaders and guests present at the event, accompanied by Liu Shiqi, General Manager of Shenyang TI Workshop, visited “Tsinghua Alumni Sanchuang Industry Incubation Base” of Shenyang TI Workshop. As a brand-new carrier co-built by Huanggu District of Shenyang and Tsinghua Alumni Association in Shenyang, the base is designed to be an omnidirectional resource liaison platform for Tsinghua alumni, and an important bridge to support Tsinghua alumni for perfect implementation of serving the local in Shenyang, and also a link for Tsinghua Alumni Association in Shenyang to establish closer connection with governments at all levels in Shenyang. It is intended to make more entrepreneurship teams serve local economic development, and governments, enterprises and universities support these start-up teams to develop stronger, and get project achievements of Tsinghua Alumni Sanchuang Contest be launched and thriving in Huanggu District.

Since 2020, impacted by COVID-19, governments, carrier and enterprises have been cooperating on COVID-19 prevention and control and social and economic development, Shenyang TI Workshop has always been active in constantly improving the sci-tech industry base capacity and industry resource liaison capacity, firmly implementing innovation-driven development, and endeavoring to facilitate overall order restoration in relevant sci-tech industries whilst conducting regular COVID-19 prevention and control.
